I had been wanting to visit this shop for ages, and then to my delight I realised it is only about 50 minutes away from my new(ish) home in the Cotswolds. It’s home is the market town of Ledbury, near the Malvern hills, which is close to Worcester, Gloucester and Hereford itself. I went just before Christmas last year 2012 to have a look around and to see the shop.
It’s a pure joy to visit, I had been feeling a bit starved of good design-wares and had needed the visual fix! Tinsmiths sell a range of fabrics by the meter from linens to cord, upholstery fabrics, all very high quality. I bought some ticking fabric in duck egg for a stocking I made for my friends baby last Christmas. They also stock St Judes fabrics and prints, which I absolutely love to bits. Within the shop they also sell homeware, useful items which are beautiful and timeless; Cushions, blankets and throws, clocks, rugs, kitchenware, dining, design led tea-towels, stationary, hardware, baskets, Lighting and Artist prints including Mark Hearld, Emily Sutton and Angie Lewin. Even if you visited just to see the actual building, you’d be impressed. To find out more about Timsmiths look here.

Ledbury in itself is a lovely old fashioned feeling town with tudor style buildings. There’s a number of butchers, bakers, chocolate shops, delicatessen and pubs to choose from. Other shops include an organic food store, and a lovely cider shop called Three counties cider, where you can take the tap cider or perry home in a 4 pint ceramic jug which can be used over and over, or bring your own vessel to use.
Have a look at the Cider shop website here: Three counties cider
There is also a market selling locally made produce, home grown foods, free range eggs, baked goods, chutneys, jams, flowers.
Perfect place to visit for a bit of (dare I say it) Christmas shopping!
