End of July 2014

Hello you lovely lot!

I’ve sent out my first Beetroot Press email newsletter which I’m very excited about.  I’ll be adding news of competitions and offers, what’s coming up in terms of fairs, new products, so click and sign up for the newsletter if you are interested in being kept in the loop.

I also noticed there is a butterfly count currently going on which I thought might be a fun thing to do, especially in this lovely weather.  Follow the link to the Big Butterfly Count web page.  19th July to the 10th August 2014 – so you still have a week left…

I’ve been adding new lines to the Etsy and Folksy shops.  I’m trying to add at least one a day as I have quite a lot of new things that have been waiting to go on.

Meet Pearl, named by a joint effort from Alissa and Charlotte Hastings – winners of the Mer-naming competition.  If you missed the ‘name the mermaid’ competition to win the new mermaid print, there’s still a very last minute chance to buy her, and any of the ‘sketch challenge’ illustrations for half price plus postage (UK) which works out at £12.00 (normally £21.00) for the A4 prints.  Just send me an e-mail to hello@beetrootpress.co.uk or message me on facebook.  But this only lasts until the end of today! (Sunday 3rd August, 12am).

On the allotment things are growing quickly now, much to my amazement.  The weeds are coming up fast.  And my particular arch enemy on my plot is the doc plant.  I’ve dug many up, but they spread so easily, so for now I’m keeping them at bay by cutting all the foliage off, digging up the new little ones, and waiting for wetter weather to have a good go on the big well established plants.

Heres my radishes, I love growing these cheery vegetables because they are easy and great to snack on, or add to salads.

Right I’m off to the allotment now to plant a few more last minute seeds and dig up those pesky weeds!
